Information for Teachers and Youth Leaders
A Real Solution to the Problem of Bullying
We can all agree anti-bullying initiatives are not working. The incidence of bullying is not decreasing, neither are the absenteeism days due to bullying. Even more serious, the numbers of youth driven to mental illness and suicide are totally unacceptable.
NexLevel Challenge Youth Retreats provide a real defence in the battle against bullying. We start by teaching young people their own value, and giving them back their self-respect. Then we put them in situations where trust, co-operation and teamwork are crucial. During the process they develop an empathy with their team mates and an understanding of how to create a world filled with possibilities and opportunities.
Transitions for Middle School
As social groups become more important to the developing adolescent, NexLevel Challenge programs provide an empowering experience to help students get to know one another, build relationships, develop mutual respect, and learn the skills necessary for working cooperatively with a wide range of people. When you bring a full class of students together, the effects will be profound enough to change the dynamic of your entire classroom. Your students will learn:
- To value and respect themselves, their peers and you
- Teamwork and co-operation
- Positive risk taking
- Building trust
- Mutual support
- Critical thinking and creative problem solving
- Effective communication
The result is a more positive environment where effort, creativity and accountability become the norm.
Leadership Programs
Our leadership programs work with student unions and leadership clubs adding practice fields to support their classroom curriculum. Students will explore:
- Team leadership
- Decision making
- Conflict Resolution
- Reflection & feedback
- Effective communication
The students will learn how to transfer newly acquired skills and knowledge to their daily lives both in school and in community settings.
Outdoor Recreation Programs
Outdoor recreation includes activities on the static and dynamically belayed high ropes and the low ropes and low activity elements. The students will form positive connections and relationships with one another and when students experience a greater sense of belonging they become more engaged in the school program. We help those who struggle to see themselves as capable and resilient learners who can solve problems, make positive choices and set goals for the future. They will:
- Experience positive risk-taking
- Build self-confidence
- Develop interpersonal skills
